Subject Leader: Miss Ellis
Harlesden Primary School believes that Physical Education is essential to the development of the whole child – academic, social, emotional, spiritual, and physical. Physical activity opportunities are provided during and after school, allowing children to be creative, competitive, and face up to different challenges, as individuals, in groups and in teams. It provides the foundation for a healthy lifestyle, and promotes character building, co-operation and self-esteem.
It is vital that children are given these opportunities to participate in a range of enjoyable physical activities at an early age so that they are more likely to continue being physically active throughout the rest of their lives.
This policy outlines the purpose, nature and management of P.E taught at Harlesden Primary School and reflects the consensus views of all the teaching staff who are responsible for its implementation.
- To develop competence to excel in a broad range of physical activities.
- To make sure children are physically active for sustained periods of time.
- To engage in competitive sports and activities.
- To lead healthy, active lives.
Please see below our P.E Overview, which outline the skills our pupils will learn, the types of learning experiences they will be exposed to and possible outcomes for our pupils. We review our overviews half termly to ensure our curriculum is evolving to the needs of our current pupils.
